Dubbed the Banshee by humans, they are beings that has been converted from their natural state to that of coherent sound which is encased in a vibration containment field. The creatures responsible for the invention and deployment of this process are referred to by humans as Harpies. They serve as mind conditioned servants, designed both to protect their masters and build and maintain their technology.
The banshee takes a distorted semblance of what it looked like in its original form, but it is clear to the observer that it is a energy being. The containment field that holds it together is not 100% efficient. The light leakage of sonic energy sounds like a continual moan or wail to the ears of those within fifty feet (17 meters) indoors or 50 yards (50 meters) outdoors.
Flight: Anyone taking this special ability gains the ability to fly. The level of this skill is added to the character's move ability to determine how far the character can move in a round. The method of flight must be specified, such as anti-gravity, gravity repulsion, jets, levitation, wings, etc.
Phasing: Banshees are energy life forms. By manipulating their own frequency resonance they can pass through solid objects. In order to do this the banshee must make a Phasing check against the object's material resistance (see Time Lord page 132) in order to successfully pass through the material.
Wail: The banshee can open a portion of its containment field (traditionally where the mouth would be but this is not a requirement) to emit a powerful burst of focused sonic energy capable of damaging a variety of materials, and causing unconsciousness in living creatures. A Wail is a sonic attack covering a 30 foot cone.
Special Immunities: Physical weapons are incapable of harming them. The are also unaffected by light and thermally-based attacks.
Weakness: Sonic attacks have full effect on them however, as does any form of frequency manipulation. If a sonic probe or manipulator is tuned to the opposing frequency, it can cause the banshee's containment field to fail and its coherent sonic energy to disperse thus destroying it.
The harpies as a species native to the planet of Sonestra IV. They are a highly intelligent spacefaring race. They have mastery of sonic sciences and key their technology to complex vocalizations. They view all other species as being created to serve them and have no compunctions about harvesting as many for slave labor as they need.
Their mastery of sound is so advanced that they have perfected a method of converting living creatures into intelligent yet subservient automata of coherent sound (see Banshee). This technology was evolved because of the fact that they evolved wings instead of arms. They rely on slave labor to build and maintain their technology. However, enslaving sentient species has always resulted in the eventual uprising of those slaves. Sonic automata conversion was invented as an answer to this problem as the process robs the victim of his individuality and will power.

Mind Control: Harpies can attempt mesmerize anyone who hears their hypnotic song. The may either focus their mind control song on a single listener or generalize it to affect all within ear-shot. Each additional victim beyond the first adds a +1 difficulty modifier to the harpies' mind control check. Each additional harpy that joins in the song adds a -1 difficulty modifier to their check. This ability is opposed by determination and indomitable will.
